Orlando’s Top Women-Owned Business
Anne Rue Interiors was recently featured on the list of Orlando Business Journal’s Top Women Owned Businesses in Central Florida. Owner, Anne Rue, sat down to answer some questions about what being a female entrepreneur and business owner means to her.
Q: What does being a business owner mean to you and why did you become an entrepreneur in the first place?
ANNE: I really think I was born to be an entrepreneur! Since I was 15, I have always had a job or worked for myself in some way. My creativity has led me to think outside the box and new ideas are always bouncing around my head, so I think that’s also what led me to design.
Q: What or who has been your greatest influence in business?
ANNE: For me inspiration hasn’t come from just one person, I would to say a lot of people have influenced me. I have always been interested in how successful business people get to be where they are and how they manage their business, and seeing anyone passionate about what they do motivates me too. I believe you should never stop learning, so I am continuously inspired by successful and hardworking people.
Q: What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
ANNE: I have been blessed to receive several awards and been a part of many amazing opportunities like being on HGTV over the past 19 years in business. As for my biggest accomplishment, I would say that’s somewhere in the future still. No matter what amazing things come my way, I always like to line up new goals to reach for.
Q: What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to other women entrepreneurs?
ANNE: I’ve received tons of great advice over the years!! Off the top of my head is 1)make sure you have a great team, and utilize their individual strengths in daily operations. 2) Fake it until you make it!
Q: What one thing have you learned as a small business owner that has served you well over the years?ANNE: Put together a great team (I love my team at ARI!) and use a business coach. There’s always more to learn!
Q: Do you have any new projects coming up or have you just completed a big project?
ANNE: We have completed so many great projects in the past 3 years, OLT senior living, 13 model homes designed and completed in 9 months, we are about to complete a 20K sq ft clubhouse for K Hov Four Seasons this December, and so much more.
Q: What do you do to de-stress or for fun/relaxation?ANNE: Laugh with my kids, have a glass of wine, or play tennis.
Q: What is Number One Business Goal you hope to accomplish?ANNE: I have several goals each year that I try to accomplish. I would say my biggest goal at the moment is design a boutique hotel.
